Um estudo sobre a divisão do trabalho doméstico em casais de trabalhadores de uma universidade pública do Amazonas

Abstract

The presente research refers to the study carred out at a public university in Amazonas, to investigate the division of domestic work into working-class couples. It was determinate as general objective to understand the social practice that involve men and women, in their everyday relationship and in the exercise of their institutionalized roles, and how are produced the division of housework. As specific objectives were defined: to identify the sexual roles lived in gender relations and the existence of an act of hierarchizing between masculine and feminine activities, to analyse the meanings of masculinity and femininity and their influence on the division of domestic activities, to evaluate the roles assigned to men and women in the everyday tasks in the domestic space. In all societies there are differences between what is expected, allowed and valued in a woman and what is expected, allowed and valued in a man. These gender differences and inequalities are shaped throughout the history of social relations and in different cultures, unfolding a specific impact on the behavior of women and men in all stages of life and determining important differences in health, education, work and division of everyday tasks in the domestic space, by the act of hierarchizing between masculine and feminine activies. The methodological description was structured in the following way: in relation to the objectives, the research was descriptive and exploratory, regarding the approach, sought out to conjugate quantitative and qualitative research with socio-historical psychology. The research protocol was applied in 135 participants, distributed in 4 categories, differentiated in terms of gender, age range and schooling. The application took place through the use of the instrument (mixed form) with the use of Likert scale and the form of realization was the direct interview with the participants, in several institutional spaces. After the application of the protocol, the transcripts of the collected information were made for analysis and discussion of the results. The analyses signalled a greater inequality in the distribution of hours devoted by domestic women than by men.
