Resumo
This research aimed to understand how the teaching occurs in Mental Health and Psychiatry in Nursing undergraduate courses in the city of Manaus, state of Amazonas, on scrutiny of pedagogical projects Course and interview with the teacher responsible for discipline. Higher education in Brazil has been influenced by the emergence of new global trends. The society has been transformed and this has influenced the ways to develop training and the individual as a professional in various fields of knowledge. This movement of construction formation processes that meet social needs was the focus of this study, which understood the paths traveled by education in Brazil and its impact on teaching of nursing discipline in Mental / Psychiatric Health, since the adoption of the National Curriculum Guidelines . The results were analyzed in two stages: at first the documents that would support the analysis of the interviews and the second time the teaching plans and Political Pedagogical Projects of each of the eight educational institutions higher, in this study, served as an aid in the analysis of the interviews. With the content analysis technique were pre-defined six categories that are subdivided into subcategories. They are: 1) How to Discipline works; 2) Objectives and expectations; 3) Teaching methodologies / learning; 4) Syllabus; 5) Reference literature. The results was possible to know how is the teaching of Mental Health Nursing in the city of Manaus and draw a discussion with the results and its relationship with the National Curriculum Guidelines and the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform. Revealed a certain distance between education and proposals of the psychiatric reform policies. Also for teaching methods, we identified certain failure to achieve the expected profile of the student in the course of planning, related to the way education is developed. Therefore, it was concluded that, in Manauara reality, the teaching of Mental Health Nursing and Psychiatry still shows up in the traditional way, with the need to set the pace with policy proposals to Brazilian Mental Health and the institutional documents, implement teaching that develops skills and ability of future nurses develop better care practices.
