Abstract

Veterinary pharmacies have been growing in the market due to the increase in the number of domestic animals and the search for suitable treatments and more viable methods of administration. This study seeks to analyze the singularities of veterinary pharmacies and their main marketed products. The methodology used comprised a bibliographical review through databases, with inclusion and exclusion criteria. The manipulation of veterinary medicines makes it possible to customize doses, adapt pharmaceutical forms, ease administration and fewer adverse effects. The research explored the growth of the pet sector in the market, as well as the most common domestic animals, diseases and conventional treatments. The handling of veterinary medicines is an exclusive activity of the pharmacist and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply is responsible for inspection and supervision. The development of new pharmaceutical forms and the application of new technologies ensures constant evolution in the manufacture of products. Therefore, the differences between veterinary pharmacies can be seen, various products and innovations have been found, and the legislation governing the operation of this branch, which is promising and increasingly present in the market, can be verified, and in the future may present more careful and specific regulations.
