Prevalência de incontinência dupla (anal e urinária) em idosos do centro de convivência público de um município do interior do Amazonas

Resumo

Fecal and urinary incontinence affects individuals of all ages and sexes, but is more common in the elderly. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of double incontinence (anal and urinary) in elderly people attending a Public Community Center in Coari, Amazonas. This is an epidemiological, cross-sectional, descriptive, analytical, observational, and quantitative study. Although the center served approximately 200 elderly people, 160 were active. A prevalence of 14.1% was adopted for sample size calculation, resulting in 114 participants, selected by non-probabilistic convenience sampling. Elderly people aged 60 years or older were included. The main variables were fecal/anal and urinary incontinence. Data collection took place between June and July 2025, using an instrument subdivided into three sections: sociodemographic and clinical data, ICIQ-SF, and Anal Incontinence Index. The data were analyzed using the R 4.2.3 program and subjected to association tests. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Amazonas. The results showed a predominance of females (73.68%) and an age range between 60 and 69 years (60.53%). Chronic diseases were present in 51.75%, and half used continuous medication. A prevalence of 24.56% of urinary incontinence, 10.53% of anal incontinence, and 2.63% of double incontinence was observed. Obstetric history was significant (97.62%), reinforcing its relationship with dysfunctions. It is concluded that urinary incontinence was the most frequent condition, followed by anal incontinence, while double incontinence showed a lower prevalence, but a relevant clinical impact, reinforcing the need for educational actions, prevention and multidisciplinary follow-up in the Amazonian context.
