Resumo
The study sought to analyze the participation of schoolchildren who have a diagnosis of some neurodevelopmental disorder and who were able to participate in Physical Education classes in public schools. A quantitative–qualitative approach was adopted, using a sociodemographic questionnaire and a field diary as observation tools. The results allowed the observation of two categories: the participation of students with NDD in practical Physical Education classes and the behavior of these students during the activities. Overall, it was observed that the participation and behavior of individuals with NDD showed low engagement, as all students participated according to their possibilities, considering that few strategies were applied to include them and increase their interest in participating in the classes. In light of the above, it is concluded that, for better participation and engagement of students with NDD in Physical Education classes, it is necessary to adopt measures such as training teachers in the area to acquire knowledge about the characteristics of these individuals, as well as the presence of support teachers, also trained, to assist and promote the participation and engagement of these students in practical activities.
