Resumo
The transformations resulting from technology require organizations to constantly seek
improvements and innovations in their products/services to remain in constant balance in the
market. In this framework, some institutions use lean thinking to reduce or eliminate possible
waste and consequently improve their processes. This study aimed to propose improvements
in the systematization of the administrative process of assigning the Course Coordination
Function of the Graduate Programs (PPGs) of the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM)
through the Value Stream Mapping tool. For this, a case study was carried out in the
Electronic Information System (SEI) and interviews with the system users who deal with this
process. The results showed the possibility of reducing the total delivery time of the process
from 107.08 hours to 66.82 hours, by removing steps/activities that are not essential to its
flow, demonstrating the tool's applicability and value creation.
