Abordagens sobre alimentação e nutrição: Extensão universitária com Agentes Comunitários de Saúde atuante em comunidades ribeirinhas Amazônicas.

Resumo

This report describes the extension experience of the Nutrition course at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) with Community Health Agents (CHAs) working in riverside communities in Amazonas. Three themes were covered: food and nutritional transition, NOVA classification of foods and Nutritional Status (NS), with a focus on dynamics, with the active participation of CHAs. The aim was to plan and carry out training activities based on public policies and existing Ministry of Health documents on food and nutrition. As a result, there was a lack of adequate training and basic, meaningful knowledge that would allow CHWs to act with greater confidence, based on evidence. In this sense, the initiative was extremely important for the students to realise the reality they face, and how important training in food and nutrition issues is for encouraging the community to eat properly and healthily.
