Resgate da língua sateré-mawé através da oralidade no contexto familiar urbano intergeracional

Abstract

The research on the rescue of the Sateré-Mawé language through orality in the intergenerational urban family context, aims at a socio-cultural diagnosis of the Sateré-Mawé language spoken by indigenous people living in the municipality of Barreirinha/AM. The study seeks to discuss, based on data, how the transmission of the language occurs between generations of Sateré-Mawé indigenous people who no longer reside in the Andirá-Marau Indigenous Land of the Sateré-Mawé people and who are in an urban area where there is use of Portuguese as the majority language. Data from the 2010 Census reveal that the Sateré-Mawé language has 8,900 speakers. However, census data do not specify the context of use of the Mawé language. The research methodology is ethnographically based for analyzing data collected in interviews, questionnaires and participant observation, considering the school system in the municipality of Barreirinha to verify the cultural displacement of indigenous students who attend non-indigenous schools. Of an ethnographic nature, based on the reflections of Sociolinguistics, the research consists of a qualitative approach, based on the thoughts Calvet (2002) and (2007), Mélia (1979), Maher (2007), Braggio (2002). As a result of research, the work presents reflections on the importance of the intergenerational transmission of the Sateré-Mawé language and proposes a reflection on actions for linguistic recovery in the urban area of Barreirinha-AM. The research was carried out in urban areas, aiming to contribute to the preservation of indigenous languages, even in urban environments, and to serve as a basis for future studies on the linguistic recovery of indigenous languages threatened with extinction, in particular the Sateré-Mawé language.
