Educação nas prisões: desafios e possibilidades do ensino praticado nas Unidades Prisionais de Manaus

Abstract

This dissertation analyzes the problems and possibilities related to educational provision applied in prisons in the capital of Amazonas. First, it seeks to analyze how the proposed education reached the prisons of Manaus and how these practices are thought by those involved in the teaching-learning process. When considering the particularities of the prison system that directly interfere in the education proposal's results, the research adopts as a field of study some of the main prisons of Manaus, mainly the Provisional Detention Center (CDP) and the Prison Unit Puraquequara (UPP). From the references, the speech of teachers and their students in a situation of deprivation of liberty, it was observed that the future outlook related to teaching these units tend to bring significant changes to the prison population and society in general, since there is commitment from multiple stakeholders in the educational process aimed at detainees.
