Tratamento interprofissional de paciente com DTM e bruxismo: relato de caso

Abstract

This study aimed to report a clinical case of interprofessional and conservative treatment of “Myofascial pain with bilateral reference, bilateral arthralgia, headache attributed to TMD and possible sleep and wake bruxism, associated with neck pain”. Black female patient, 22 years old, reported headache all over the head and complaint of “feeling tired face when waking up”, with evolution of approximately 3 years. She sought care at the outpatient clinic of the Faculty of Dentistry - FAO/UFAM, underwent anamnesis, physical examination of palpation, intra-oral clinical examination, application of questionnaires, photographic records, in addition to receiving referral to a neurologist, head and neck physiotherapist and psychologist. The proposed treatment was interprofessional, based on the biopsychosocial approach, among the four areas. The reported treatment lasted approximately 3 months and, in terms of dentistry, the use of an intraoral device, thermotherapy, self-massage, coordination exercises, guidance on pain, sleep hygiene, biofeedback through reminders and use of medication was proposed. In addition, the patient received evaluation and conduct from a neurologist, physiotherapist and psychologist. It was concluded that the patient showed significant improvement when compared to the initial condition, the pain complaints were resolved, improving the patient's quality of life. She will continue to receive follow-up at the college's outpatient clinic for any need. The clinical case was approved by CEP-UFAM and the patient was invited to sign the Free and Informed Consent Form (TCLE) for the description of the case report and presentation as a Course Completion Work (TCC) in addition to future scientific publication.
