Abstract

Report on the experience of nursing students in an extension project on Sexually Transmitted Infections carried out in state schools in a municipality in the interior of Amazonas. Experience report: This report refers to the experience of nursing students in extension activities, which were aimed at students in the third year of regular high school. In a light and relaxed way, the topic of Sexually Transmitted Infections was addressed with illustrative PowerPoint images, which dealt with forms of prevention, always emphasizing the use of male and female condoms. The activity ended with a round of conversation and an invitation to the students to take rapid tests for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C. Final considerations: The project allowed participants to experience health education up close outside the walls of the university so that they realized the real need to work with different audiences, correlating the knowledge acquired in the classroom and enabling them to grow professionally.
